2016-17 Gear Guide
Whether you’re an expert who revels in knee-deep powder in the Back Bowls or a casual skier who cruises the groomers, you’ve got to be ready for a variety of conditions on the mountain. Don’t risk having a bad time just because you didn’t bring the right gear along – our Ultimate Gear Guide is here to help you make the most of your trip.
Layering Up.
Helly Hansen, founded in 1877, has been on the forefront of innovative products, particularly when it comes to layering. Helly Hansen worked to develop what we know today as the 3-Layer System™. The 3-Layer System™ calls for wearing a base-layer, mid-layer, and outer-layer to provide the best possible for protection from the elements.
The first layer is your base-layer.
HH Warm Freeze 1/2 Zip delivers super quick drying and guarantees that you’ll always feel dry and comfortable. The best wool base layer on the market combining the unique Lifa® fiber technology next to skin to keep you dry, with a premium Merino wool exterior with superior insulating and wicking properties.
The second layer is your mid-layer.
Fleece is a standard mid-layer because it is appreciated for its warmth and comfort.
The final layer is your outerwear.
The outerwear is designed to protect you from the weather. The Alpha 2.0 Jacket features PrimaLoft® Insulation with a body–mapping philosophy to keep you warm in the right areas, and our highly innovative H²Flow system turbocharging mechanical venting keeps you dry, warm, or cool depending on the outside conditions. Sunny and bluebird? Chilly and stormy? Helly Hansen’s 3-layer system works in harmony to keep you comfortable in Vail’s dynamic environment. It’s a combination of base-layer, mid-layer and outer-layer to provide the best protection from the elements.

The I/O 7 is designed for optimized performance and perfect fit: single-pivot quick release for easy lens change, AirEvac™ ventilation for fog-free integration with Smith helmets, dualaxis outriggers that pivot in multiple directions to ensure superior helmet integration, and facial geometry frame design for contoured face fit.
