Summer in the mountains is taking on a whole new feel as Epic Discovery debuts at Vail Mountain this year. Immerse yourself in nature, challenge yourself with thrilling activities like the Forest Flyer, Game Creek Aerial Adventure, ziplines and adventure courses. But that is only half the fun. Explore our natural playground, stand where founders Pete Seibert and Earl Eaton did, and learn about local flora and fauna with Epic Discovery’s learn through play elements.

So what makes Epic Discovery different than our on-mountain summer activities from years past? Epic Discovery will provide our guests a unique, connected, on-mountain summer experience. Guests will be immersed in activities, which provide big-time thrills, allow them to challenge themselves physically, enable them to explore and better understand their natural surroundings, and create lifelong memories.

Epic Discovery is the first-of-its-kind, comprehensive on-mountain summer adventure. Whether you’re a thrill seeker looking for summer adventure or if you’re looking for a way to entertain, educate and broaden the horizons of you and your family, Epic Discovery is the perfect way to experience summer at Vail!

You’ve been on a zip line, but Epic Discovery  at Vail will take you beyond your traditional zipline by providing breathtaking views of the Gore Range and Mount of the Holy Cross while flying through the air. Learn about Vail’s natural playground through  wildlife trails, viewfinders, story stakes and “learn-through-play” activities.

A mountain view is a mountain view, right? Not quite! Epic Discovery will show you views of Vail like never before with our Game Creek Aerial Adventure as you as you glide along the alpine canopy high above the treetops.

You might’ve been on other alpine slides, but the new Forest Flyer is unlike any other. This gravity-based alpine coaster allows guests on individual sleds to descend on a raised track through the forest.

Looking to wander through woods and immerse yourself in nature? We’ve expanded our system of trails and our new Wildlife Exploration Trail features interactive installations that allow you to learn about Colorado flora and fauna. Put yourself in the ‘hooves’ and ‘wings’ of animals and their abilities including vision, stride, agility and strength. We’ve worked in partnership with The Nature Conservancy, the USFS and Walking Mountains Science Center to bring interactive elements to make even our trails and hiking experience educational and unforgettable!

Epic Discovery will also be contributing one percent of all summer lift ticket and activity revenue to The Nature Conservancy for forest restoration projects.
