How to Celebrate the Holidays in Vail

Oct. 24, 2017

Spending the holidays in Vail is like living your white Christmas dreams. Skiing fresh powder. Cozying up by the fire. Strolling our cobblestone streets to see the festive lights.

The holidays here truly are magical. Whether you’re in Vail with a group of friends, extended family or as a couple, it’s the perfect place for you to celebrate the season and squeeze in some bonding time. As you plan your holiday visit to Vail, here are some must-dos to push it from great to unforgettable

Nothing screams winter wonderland quite like a horse-drawn sleigh ride through fresh powder. Enjoy the cool mountain air as you snuggle up under a cozy blanket and view star-studded skies. And if the moment strikes you, caroling is more than encouraged!

It’s truly like living in a fairytale. There are numerous options in the Vail area, many of which include dinner, drinks, or live music.

Game Creek Restaurant

There isn’t a bad view anywhere in Vail, but views just get better the higher up the mountain you go. For an unforgettable on-mountain dining experience, make Game Creek Restaurant your new regular. With sweeping views of Game Creek Bowl, Game Creek boasts five-star cuisine and an award-winning wine list in a European chalet inspired restaurant. Plus, you can only reach it via snowcat, adding a little magic to the whole experience.

Vail Village is always gorgeous, but it’s extra special during the holidays. There’s something in the air that inspires exploration, something that brings you closer to your loved ones. Maybe it’s the twinkle lights, maybe it’s the decorations…maybe it’s just the feeling of being at home, even when you’re miles away. Make sure to spend plenty of time strolling our heated, cobblestone streets as you warm up in your
favorite après spots.

From December 11-21, Vail turns into an idyllic holiday wonderland with Vail Holidays. Visit the Kris Kringle Market to find a special (or last-minute) gift, handmade ornaments, delicious treats and more. A must-do activity during Vail Holidaze is the big tree lighting ceremony, which truly welcomes Christmas. Gather by the covered bridge and enjoy festive music as we officially celebrate the holiday.

New Years Eve Fireworks in Vail

Plan your trip so you can ring in the New Year, Vail style. First, check out the Torchlight Parade, where ski instructors and locals form a glowing train as they ski down Golden Peak with glow sticks. Tip: make sure to bring your camera for incredible photo ops! Then, stick around for our iconic fireworks display before you head into town to raise a glass to 2018!
