The Dream Pod Float Tank: The Lodge at Vail’s Newest Experience
Attention vacationers and locals dealing with stress and acute injuries: it’s time to hit the reset button.
The Lodge at Vail, Vail’s very first hotel and its RockResort Spa are proud to present its newest luxury spa treatment, the Dream Pod Float Experience. Normally found in major cities, float tank treatments offer countless benefits that surpass the regular benefits of weekly fitness routines and spa treatments. While recently gaining popularity, float tanks have been around since the 1950’s, ample time for scientists to study the psychological and physiological benefits of floating.
My Personal Experience:
On the days leading up to my spa treatment, I was a little concerned about feeling claustrophobic, but I found that the tank provided much more room than I had imagined. I felt comfortable, relaxed and safe during the entire experience. The magnesium-saturated water was at the perfect temperature and the buoyancy allowed me to float without any effort. Thanks to the advice of The Lodge at Vail therapists, I relaxed, focused on my breathing, and I was in a meditative state within seconds.
I am not a scientist, but I do know that after my 60 minutes in the tank, I felt completely rejuvenated and calm. I had that overall, relaxed body sensation that one feels after a soothing massage.
A proven after effect of floating is the reduction of cortisol levels. Cortisol is a hormone that when in excess, creates stress and a constant “fight or flight reaction.” It is normal in situations of peril or danger, but sustained increased cortisol levels can lead to headaches, sleep disruption, high blood pressure, anxiety, and depression. Float tank therapies have also been used as an alternative treatment for acute injuries as they promote healthy activity of the circulatory and lymphatic systems. No matter what issues you are facing, mentally or physically, floating provides an opportunity for the body to release tension and hit the reset button.
When in Vail, take advantage of this whole-body experience. Whether you are here for the slopes or are enjoying a family vacation, it’s the perfect way to relax and can serve as an alternative to or complement a massage treatment. For the launch of this new ‘Zen-like’ treatment, the spa is offering special discounts on the Dream Pod Float Experience. Special offers include $50 for the first experience and discount packages of 5 or 10 floats.
