Shaun White’s snow slash during his last run/victory lap at the Burton US Open Men’s Halfpipe Finals
March 2, 2013
The men’s halfpipe Finals finished with Shaun White taking yet another 1st place title with a score of 95.58 – well ahead of his competition. 2nd place winner, the 14-year-old Ayumu Hirano, showed his prowess as perhaps the most exciting up-and-coming rider in the sport with a score of 87.40. Despite his small stature, he was getting incredible air out of the pipe and only faltered slightly at the end of an incredible last run when he hit the run-out of the pipe. Louis Vito, ever a crowd favorite, took the 3rd spot with a 79.58.
Women’s halfpipe ended with Kelly Clark taking a record 6th Burton US Open title with a score of 84.45. Hannah Tetertook 2nd with an 82.13 and the up and coming 16-year-old from Steamboat Springs, Arielle Gold, took 3rd with an 80.88. Congrats ladies!

Torstein Horgmo takes 2nd Place at the Slopestyle Finals
The snow just keeps on falling in Vail – great for the Back Bowls but not ideal for the Slopestyle. The men pushed through, albeit with some riders having issues getting enough speed to go into the first jump. That said, with this much accumulation officials have decided to cancel the Women’s Slopestyle Finals and let the scores from the Semi Finals stands.
Men’s Results
1. Mark McMorris CAN 83.05
2. Torstein Horgmo NOR 82.53
3. Chas Guldemond USA 81.63
