Lindsey Vonn Interview: from Minnesota to Vail to world renowned athlete
As a kid skiing at Buck Hill, Minnesota, no one knew that Lindsey Vonn would grow up to be the most successful American skier in alpine skiing’s history. Her family saw she had a talent, though, and decided to take the risk of a lifetime by packing up and moving the entire family to Vail, Colorado. “I think about the sacrifice my family made,” says Vonn, “and them just moving out to Vail for my skiing all the time, because without that I would never be where I am today. I think that it just shows that if you have a dream and you’re willing work hard for it anything is possible.”
Another fantastic piece of advice from the Olympian and 4 time overall World Cup Champion: “If you’re not falling, you’re doing something wrong.”
Have your own aspiring ski girl? Vail’s Ski Girls Rock camps by Lindsey Vonn encourage and empower young female skiers in small, female instructor led classes.
