While snow totals don’t matter much in summer, it’s still important to check the forecast before you head out for the day. Weather in the High Rockies is known for changing quickly and conditions in Vail Village and Lionshead can be quite different than those at the top of the gondola.
Keep yourself up to date and prepared with a few of the sources Vail Ski Patrol, Lift Ops and other departments rely on each day as they work on the mountain.
NOAA:
A feed from The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is the source of the weather and temperature outlooks on Vail.com’s Snow and Weather Report page.

OpenSnow Powder Forecast:
A daily Vail weather forecast more specific to snow and powder at Vail ski resort can be found below. This is updated daily by Joel Gratz, a meteorologist based out of Boulder, Colorado, who specializes in snow predictions.
Colorado Avalanche Information Center:
Another resource for avalanche danger, snow conditions, and weather discussions is the Colorado Avalanche Information Center (CAIC). View the CAIC daily Vail area report.
