Lodging in Vail

Trying to figure out where to stay in Vail this winter? The Town of Vail may only be 4.5 square miles but there are hundreds of lodging options to choose from!

To help get you started in your search, we’ve created this blog series that describes the look, feel and experience of staying in Vail’s 5 main neighborhoods.

Vail Village
Many of the pictures you’ve seen of Vail are likely from this iconic pedestrian village. Many of its buildings were originally built by Vail’s founders in the early 60s with a nod to classic European alpine architecture.

Vail Village retains a peaceful, small town vibe even with its world-class restaurants, shopping, cafes and late night hot spots. The heated streets make for an easy walk up Bridge Street to Gondola One.

This area is home to some of the most famous boutique and luxury hotels in Vail including The Lodge at Vail (Vail’s original hotel), Hotel Gasthof Gramshammer (better known as Pepi’s),The Sonnenalp, The Sebastian, Four Seasons Resort, Austria Haus, and Tivoli Lodge.

While the hotels in Vail Village are close to lifts, many offer ski valets and shuttles to make your journey to the slopes that much easier.

Golden Peak

A peaceful and convenient spot just 5 minutes walk east of Vail Village, staying in Golden Peak puts you at the base of Riva Bahn Express Lift (#6). Hop on the lift for access to Vail’s Terrain Park as well as to the bottom of Northwoods – one of skiers and riders favorite areas on the mountain.

From Golden Peak’s base you can watch ski racers going through the gates – including many national ski teams at the beginning of each season – as well as get front row seats to events like the Burton US Open. It is is also home Vail’s Child Care and Nursery facilities.

There are just a few properties in Golden Peak, including Manor Vail Lodge (directly across the street from the Golden Peak base area) and condo based properties like The Wren (offering complimentary skier shuttle service).
